What is Flip Service?

Flip Service is an independent music news and editorial project based in Orlando, Florida. The site covers EDM, alternative, and the artists shaping the city’s live music landscape, with a focus on upcoming shows, venues, festivals, and local and touring acts.

The project was started to support a stronger music community in Central Florida — one that benefits artists, venues, promoters, and concert-goers alike. Flip Service aims to make local music more visible, more accessible, and easier to engage with.

Flip Service covers Central Florida with an emphasis on Orlando and its surrounding neighborhoods, from downtown venues and local bars to record shops and festival grounds. If it’s part of the city’s live music ecosystem, it’s on our radar.

At its core, Flip Service is about connection: between artists and audiences, venues and communities, and people who show up to support live music. It exists to share the shows you didn’t know were happening and to help keep Orlando’s music culture visible.

All content on Flip Service is currently free. Reader engagement and community submissions are encouraged, and tips, event listings, and artist recommendations are always welcome.

A Flip Service newsletter will be launching soon, featuring curated show listings, reporting, and editorial highlights.

Flip Service is independently run and community-focused.  Founded by Melissa Whissell, a UCF alum, writer, and music lover based in Winter Park.
